Depends on why you are being advised to use this.Is there a specific application,or a problem cooking with the way the cooker was designed?

Ours set outside at the beach in S FL,thru the tropical storms and pouring salt storms every night.

You can go to FIND at page top,and get discussions about different applications.

We cook all over the Southeast,in high winds and pouring rains and don't even consider this.

Now if your cook trailer has applications,the FIND can probably help you.

You don't want to know how expensive that vent is, it's VERY heavy duty. I think chrome platted truck exhuasts would be cheaper.

Personally I like the cheap vent caps, they get grease and they're easy for me to remove. You WILL get grease buildup inside the vent/tube, whatever you use.
I know I'm coming in late here but my FEC has been on the deck all winter. The deck is covered and faces North.
My exaust is a 3ft piece of 5" flue with a 90 degree elbow facing down. This gets the smoke out in the open and has not been affected by the wind.
this is nothing fance and it works!
I got the fixins for the elbow, two foot stack, and a cap, but haven't put it together yet. The only reason is that I cook on the ramp of my trailer, and sometimes I can't always face my smokers the wait I want to and have them both level. Sometimes I have the smoke from one in by face when I'm loading, unloading or checking meat in the other.
