Vertical offset vs Horizontal Offset

Hi all

I hope this does not start a religious war but I am after some input before I start my first smoker build.

What are the advantage/disadvantages of both like this greatyardmaster a vertical smoker with an offset firebox vs a Horizontal offset?

I am not wanting to build a traditional Vertical with the fire and water directly below. I am attracted to the size advantage of the vertical but I am unsure after doing a lot of looking around, that a vertical offset performs tike a horizontal.
