forget the boom. Its a non issue.

I have had a smokettte for 4 years or more. it boomed a couple times early on. no damage, no foul. don't boom no more.

never heard or read about a boom that caused damage to anything... so... its meaningless.

my guess is that in the early uses some of that sheet metal in there will expand and "re-settle" .... boom.

adds to the mystique of the smokette LOL!

or... maybe it's emerill sneaking in to my garage late at night, with 4 shoulders in the smoker... and he opens it up... and he throws some extra rub... and he --- no, wait: that would be a BAM! ... not a "Boom!"
mine didnt boom at all. All I noticed when I was seasoning it was that the smoke was coming out of the chimney as usually when all of a sudden the somke was sucked back in side then blown back out with some pressure kinda like a blow hole on a whale. didnt make any noise and hasnt done it again.

All i can assume is that the metal inside the CS was being tempered....maybe
Considering the customers service and the warranty on the CS, don't know why you're worried.

It wasn't even an issue until a small few owners noticed it. It HAS to be caused by an expansion of gas, so just think of it as the CS burping.

I've had mine 5 years and it never burped.

When in doubt, call CS and ask. They don't monitor this forum as often as I do, and I don't work for them, so I'm not sure of the scientific explaination.
