What's the best way to clean this thing?

I've done it with oven cleaner in the driveway, with the pressure washer in the driveway, I even got the bright idea to put the racks in our self cleaning oven and run a clean cycle. (BAD IDEA)

smoke detectors going off.... woke up the kids and the wife, Had to put a fan in the kitchen to blow out the smoke... Not good.

Any ideas?

What are you cleaning? Not the entire smoker?

To clean just the grates?

1. Put them in the dishwasher
or
2. Take them to a car wash and hose off
or
3. Soak in a pan for a little while (I put Greased Lightning or Simple green in) and let them soak
or
4. Combination of the above.

This time of the year one of the easiest way I found to clean the racks is to just lay them in the yard overnight and to let the dew soften all of the stuff up. In the morn just hit with the garden hose and they are usually pretty clean.

I put the stopper in the sink and fill with hot water and detergent... after 20 min, just use the SOS pads and clean right up. As for the smoker... just scape the loose stuff off the walls and floor with a spatula, and you're good to go...

You will also find that they clean much easier if you spray them with non-stick cooking spray before your cook.

I could tell you guys I just give em to my wife, I do all the hard work cooking so she has to do the cleaning, but that excuse would just never work...
