For ANY use over 300, I am very particular about it being clean. Hi heat can ignite grease. Clean the firepot, new foil on the bottom, make sure the grease tray is empty and very clean.

You absolutely can use it for an "oven" at those temps. 300 to 350 should be fine. Let it get to temp and keep the door closed. when you dump heat by opening the door too much it will tend to get a roaring fire. If that's the case, be aware that food on the bottom shelf will get a lot of heat.
