what temp. is ice water?

Stirred,it should be 32�F.

You know I tried something with my probes I had two and were reading way off and I had heard to put them into hot oil like you going to fry them. I tried it got the oil to about 325-350 and watched the water cook right out of the probes you can see it happen.Now they both right on the money.

Tom - good point on the stirring. If using ice water let the ice sit in the water for several minutes and stir occasionally. I just picked up a Taylor thermometer at Target because i couldn't find a Poldar (sp?) in town. The Taylor was $16 and reads is right on at 32 and 212 degrees.
