I will be smoking a turkey tonight for tomorrow's dinner. The problem I have is that once I'm done smoking we have a 2 1/2 hr drive to where we are headed. I know if I FTC it that the skin will get moist and loose its crispness.

What should I do? Smoke it early then put in the refrigerator to reheat once I get up there?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to pull mine out of the smoker and double wrap in foil and put in a cooler with lots of towels. Some coolers are not well insulated in the lid, so towels can really help. One other thought, is to heat up some bricks, wrap in towels and put on either side of the turkey in the cooler. As far as the skin, maybe butter it up and use a torch. Good luck.
