i do most of my shopping at costco but the biggest meats they carry are ribs and briskets, which are in the 4lbs range. looking at several pictures and posts here you guys get stuff in the 8lbs range. also, costco doesnt sell pork butts or sausage logs for fatties etc.

other than a butcher shop where should i go? ive tried food for less and its the same thing though they do carry pork butt, small though.

i just want to make good use of my new cookshack

What part of the country do you live in? If you know someone in the restaurant business they can probably order for you through their Distributor like a SYSCO. If you have access to a business liscense and there is a Restaurant Depot near you they are a good cash & carry resource www.restaurantdepot.com/ .

I live in Texas and there is no problem finding 15 pound brisket at the local Kroger or Albertsons, but when I visit friends in Cleveland it's almost impossible!
Anybody that is running ads for butts, pork steaks, country style ribs, etc will receive butts in 2 pks,in cases of around 65 lbs.

You may have to ask the meat manager,as the minimum wage help, won't know a butt from salami.

Your supermarkets could be a next choice for other products.

Keep in mind, that the guy at the meat counter, could have been in laundry products or flowers ,last week.

Look for meats/poultry that have not been injected/enhanced with up to 20% salt water -for the customers benefit, naturally. Mad

Does it not show, I see Los Angeles in his post?

luisfc1972, you need to call butchers/meat markets and find out

As for full brisket or packer cut briskets, still in the cryovac and at least 8 to 10 lbs. If they don't know what that is, they're not a butcher

For the PB, they are usually in the 5 to 10lb range, bone in and the companies that sell them pack them in pairs.

You'll just have to do some searching, if the large supermarkets or costco's don't have them, you'll have to go hunting for them.

It does now. At the time I was typing, it didn't. He also came back while I was trying to post and added another post with his location. I'm a little on the slow side.
