just throw it in there and let it rattle around and come to rest on its own... like dice! sorry. I'd say place it in the center, basically. I find the bottom rack on the smokette get more heat than the rest of the cooker. Probably similar for the 50/55. You should be able to put it anywhere and get the same result.
I tend to put things as high up as possible in my smokette. The more important issue, if you're going to fire up the smoker do a bunch of chickens. The leftovers are great in all sorts of things (enchilladas, caseroles, etc.). I make a point to make a lot extra, just to have the leftovers in the freezer for a quick meal. Throw them in a foodsaver bag and you're in business.
