Where's a great place to buy a smoker?

I'd call the Cookshack marketing line and ask them what kind of holiday program they have going.

By the time it shakes out and you fool with a bunch of other people,it will be about the same.

The nice thing about Cookshack is they honor their product and their reputation,from whomever.

I have no connection or interest in the company and I took the same approach you are taking.

or places like Cabela's.

But you may not get the guarantee like you would from the company direct.

What do they sell em for direct? I have looked at Cabela's and they seem to have a decent price, however I have to believe that there are better deals out there.

I don't see a "special" on the CS home page, just call CS customer service and ask if they have a deal.

You can also ask if they have any used smokettes, at a good price.

I just purchased a Smokette today! I went with Cabelas. Their price seemed to be lower than most. Even if I find it for a few bucks cheaper after the holidays or something it was still quite a bit below MSRP so I don't think I'll beat myself up too much. Plus I get it NOW!!! I can hardly wait!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought CS warranteed the smoker whether bought direct or from Cabela's or another retailer. Now, a used one at an auction or such is another story, I'd guess.

You're right about that.

The one difference is that Cookshack wants to be sure the product is right and Stuart goes out of his way to recommend solutions and get you up to CS standards on other dealings.

I have seen him recommend what to look for in other's used models and what you might need to change.

Most folks get welcomed into the family.

The statement about the guarantee was that I KNOW what you get from CS, but as far as dealing with anyone else, commercial or some website or other reseller, I can't speak for them or CS.

The point...call CS and talk to them about their warranty.

I bought mine at Cabelas; a reputable reseller. No matter where you choose, get one fast because they are great! Last weekend it was some ribs this weekend its some salmon and mahi-mahi. Looks like Sunday football is going to be viewed with a smoky treat!

Hey Idaho, glad to see there is at least 1 more person in Idaho that loves great BBQ and smoked food, heaven knows you have to make it yourself to get anything good around here!!! I bought my smokette through Cabelas after pretty much scouring the web and contacting cookshack directly. I had some points saved up through Cabelas, so I got a pretty good deal and the folks at Cookshack were very helpful in answering my questions. I would highly recommend the smokette as there hasn't been a weekend go by that it hasn't been put to use!

Well, she's a done deal. The wife ordered my "surprise" Christmas present direct from Cookshack, they offered a discount and some other goodies...can't wait to visit this site daily to get some hints on how to use this sucker, it's my first smoker.

Jerky is the first task, I am a jerky nut, and am tired of paying $4 for a small bag of something I could make at home much better.

Grinder guy was not very helpful in confirming the warranty information, Cookshack has a 375 no shipping charge special on the smokette. Thats where I bought.

When you price the cooker, be sure to calculate the freight cost. The price at Cabela's and CS are similar, but when you factor in the shipping costs, CS is much less.

I got mine Christmas day, got a discount from CS, great people. Already have done two batches of Jerky, one with a marinade the other with a HIMountain cure...both turned out excellent...I love this thing
