(I posted this to another group recently, but received no replies)...

I've been contemplating the purchase of a new FEC-100 but am concerned about a few issues. The main one being the very hazardous 'back burning' of fuel in the hopper/delivery system.

I know that the original FE-100 used Traegers pellet delivery system. I also know that the Traeger boys hold several patents on their devices including #4,619,209 #4,823,684 & #5,251,607. All are available for viewing at the USPTO website.

Since I've never seen an FEC-100 in person, can someone tell me which patent design is used in the newer FEC-100? Or is CookShack using their own design?
Thanks,

Guy

Guy,

The reason you probably didn't get a response, is that CS doesn't monitor this site specifically for customer questions, they really prefer a 1 to 1 answer, so like Doc said, I'd call Customer Service.

Now, if you have other questions about the smoker, this group will certainly help answer them.

This forum has been running for a year and I haven't seen one post about back burning, so it's certainly not a common, if at all occurrance.
guy,
if it will make you feel any better i sleep right next to my fec100 during competitions. the only time i have had a pause for concern was one time (and it has never done it since) i got a puff of smoke out of the hopper. i have since attributed this to the high winds that were buffeting us and the fact i had not yet turned on my hood system.
