Congrats to Joe and John, They were next to us and complained about how bad their meat was. Guess it wasn't that bad.
Wish they would have had the final overall results but they are mailing them out.
We couldn't complain too much for our First contest with New FE 100's. We took a 4th in brisket and a 5th in Pork. We still need to learn a lot on these things. We had all kinds of problems using them on Generators vs. having electric. We will have to learn some tricks on the generators. Well we will see if we can improve in Marshall next month.

Hi Joe, We were running Honda 500 generators and both of our FE 100's blew fuses. Then mine wouldn't stay under 300 when running on Smoke. Mine also blew the ignitor so we had to hand start the burning pot. Hopefully that is the only contest we do that doesn't have electricity. I also think we will go with UPS's in the future to stabilize the electric from the generators. No big deal, just some anxious moments.

Ray,

Thank you for the info. I have installed to golf cart batteries on my trailer and have a inverter that is rated at 2000 watts. The way that I have it installed is that I can receive power from the power company or the generator and it provides power to the battery charger that keeps the batteries charged. I then turn on the inverter and it runs both of my FEC 100's. I have this ready to go and this weekend I will do a test cook and see what happens. I am going to unplug power and see how long the units will run on the two batteries.

Joe
