I spent yesterday afternoon breaking in my new Cookshack and made an observation and wondered if anyone else had noticed it. After allowing the smoker to go for about 6 hours with the 8 oz. of wood as directed in the manual, I turned the smoker off and removed the wood box. It appeared that the wood closer to the front of the smoker experienced a more complete burn that chunks near the rear. This made sense based on how heating elements work and the configuration. This leads me to believe that wood placement in the box could greatly affect results, especially for smokes using smaller quantities of wood (e.g. 2 oz.) and shorter periods of time. Any thoughts or experiences?
