I bought mine from Americasbestbbq and it was shipped in two days, got here today fedex. I talked to cookshack and I looked on the maps, they are only 278 miles apart, I think they are pals. I still bought a cookshack, its not like I bought a tex. I called cookshack and asked them to match the price, they said they can't compete with thier dealers, I didn't think price matching was competing. Wherever you get one, this is for sure, this is a fine made AMERICAN quality machine!!!
Well as a matter of fact - after I had decided to buy direct from Cookshack they informed me that the model 50 was backordered for two weeks. Ended up buying from a different vendor who threw in a free cover and beat the Cookshack price by $60. I will indeed say that the folks I talked to at Cookshack were nothing but nice, helpful, and honest. And they indeed told me that they would stand behind their product regardless of who I purchased it from.

Manufactures sell at list price or just a tad lower (sometimes)
This way the Manufacture has more outlets for the sale of its product

Vendors get the items for less than the manufactures list price and even lower than what they (the Vendors) are actually selling it this way they can price it to make a profitable living.
Vendors cease to be vendors, if people can go to the source and get the same price.

Bottom line Manufactures will not undersell their vendors, otherwise the vendors would have to sell for less than they purchased the item for or cost There is no profit in that nor a reason to go through the hassle of carrying the product or having it in inventory.

However NO mater where you buy it new the manufacture still honors the warranty whether you purchase from the manufacture or the vendor.

At least this is how I understand it
well, I sold my 009 to a co-worker,now to get a 55.Who do I buy from? I found it @ americas best barbecue for $864.95 W/free to your door shipping & a free cover.thats $130.05 savings, that could buy me a couple butts for the 55.but has anyone had any dealings with them late'ly.are they a good company to deal with etc?

I purchased my 008 from them. Poor communication, but it eventually showed up.

The heating element was either faulty, or it came loose in shipping, but that's not their fault. I was a little nervous that I would need to return it, because their website doesn't exactly have the best return policy, but I called Cookshack and they told me they'd take care of it.

In the meantime, I'm still waiting for the replacement, and have had my new smoker sitting on my porch, gathering dust, for a week.
I tend to research things to death, and I looked at ABB, Cabela's and others, and I found that in the long run, ordering from CS direct was the best route. If you just look at the cooker and cover, ABB and others were cheaper, but they didn't have all of the accessories available, so I would have been placing orders from two different places. Once I took tha tinto consideration, CS was actually cheaper.
