Hey all, first off happy que to everyone. Now, I used to have a sm045, but the grates are too close together to smoke large butts/picnics. The butts/picnics are too tall. Anyone experience this? That's one reason I bought the Amerique. The grates are 5" apart and just enough to fit the large cuts. I called Bill and he meas. them. Input please. Confused "Q"

CS "should" make the racks with multiple rails at 2" to 3" spacing so the grills can be fully adjustable for various thickness of meats. I add rails to my AmQ for a total of 8 slots on each side making it much easier to add more grills for thinner cuts. If I wanted it could handle 8 levels of jerkey or even wings. I really enjoy the flexibility of this arrangement.
I know that this isn't an Amerique, but just a thought. I have an old SM009, and bought the 5 rail side racks to replace the 3 rail racks. I was told that these would not fit my new SM045 that came with the 3 rail racks. I did a little checking, and discovered that the racks for the SM009 and the SM045 are the same size exactley. I now have the 5 rails in the SM045. I wonder if there isn't something that Cookshack already makes for another product that would fit the Amerique and do just what you want. Since I don't have anything bigger then the SM045, I don't have away to check this.
TN Q,

Why not CALL Cookshack on the phone and ask for one of the fellas in Sales or Customer Service. You will ba amazed what a friendly and helpful bunch they are - I am sure they would like to HEAR from you.

I am sure if you ordered from them over the phone and had specified you wanted to swap out the standard shelf holders for the PM029 replacement part ones they would have worked with you. They are an incredibly friendly bunch - I just think they aren't very WWW savvy. They do make great smokers...

You know Cookshack does make a 7 slot rack for the AmeriQue, right?

Stainless steel aint cheap, adding the 3 more slots isn't free for them in materials or man power to form and weld them in. For 90% of people the 4 rack slots are fine, can't see them justifying adding 3 rack slots for 10% of the market. But for $100 you can get them when you buy it and they may even give you a discount if you don't want the rack that comes with it.

interesting comment given that the CS MSRP for both their 4 and 6 slot replacement racks are the same. No one is suggesting that CS "give" away anything; just that for minimal costs a standard and flexible 8 slot rack would be nice.
