knife salesman

Sounds like an excellent location to me. Also, I see a new & used knife vendor at the gun shows in Orlando, FL, every time I attend. Most attendees are hunters/fishermen, and have a need for various knives.

I think the biggest need at a bbq contest is for someone who sharpens knives. I think that would get a lot of business.

An old butcher should know how to get that done.

What makes of knives does your friend sell? Does he sell direct? Jack's always looking for a better knife. I've been approached several times by people at contests, and we've only done 4, wanting to sharpen their knives. He could set up a sharpening station with his knives for sale too.

Peggy, I'm not sure of the brand, but the kids keep buying stuff from him for my Christmas present. This year it was a food chopper. Son Paul bought a nice big knife set at SDSU for his meat science class.

The knife salesman I am refering to is also my MN Dept of Ag inspector. He monitors all of our freezer trucks and equiptment, our BBQ sauce making process and labels.

He thought he'd take his knives to World Pork Expo-BarbeQlossal in Des Moines.

Randy, thanks for the complement. We have an appointment Wed for butchering. We don't use dry ice, don't need it in this weather anyway. Our freezer gets it down to -25F so it can easily go up to 4 days in styrofoam [Groundtrack].

I sell butcher knives as well. Your friend may already do this, but the shows we go to are the outdoor variety. We target the outdoorsmen and farmers who either butcher their own deer or their own livestock. 6" boning knives almost always sell out. Even fisherman by the curved flexible ones for filleting.

I wouldn't know if a BBQ show would be a good place or not. I suppose it would as alot of people who attend them have meat or restaurant businesses. Unfortunately, Ohio doesnt have any of these shows that I know of to test it out on.

Harley riders attend shows........most of them carry a folding knife on their belt. A Harley butcher knife might sell to the public. I sharpen my own with an Arkansas Stone and a fine steel hone.
