Awesome showing Firehouse, congrats on the Reserve (First in Brisket -- must be Tom!).

Other FE's doing well. Dr BBQ at 5th, Kevin at 14th, Bill at 16th.

Best news is I hear Music City was there and Lee and Bobbye both! Great news.

Quite a field there.

Thanks for the kind words, and I'm just the one that gets to haul the briskets to the cookoff.

Like all categories, they are team efforts.

Maybe we wouldn't get to be a bridesmaid so often,if all those other guys would quit cooking so well.

Some other pelletheads doing well:

Parrothead, from the first FEC class,3rd overall
BS Pitmeister 11th
Piglicious 19th
JMack 26th

A short explanation would be that there are six judges that judge a sample.

A judge could score it 2 thru 9 points for each of three areas.

The judge scores each of appearance,texture/tenderness,and finally taste.

Each of these three categories is multiplied by a factor and the judges total is arrived at.

Roughly the factors work out to:

1/7 for apearance
2/7 for texture/tenderness
4/7 for taste

The top five, of the six judges scores, are added together to give a total point score.

This can vary by several things, that are really not part of the standard score.

Some of the other folks might want to give more detail,if you need it.
Tom you call that a short explanation??? It was a good contest this year. We had some suprise teams that made it down. It seemed like we were way to relaxed. Eddy it was good seeing you down it the sunshine state. I hope your right about the grand this year. We might just try to go for the record on reserve grands this year.

It was great to see Bobby and Lee cooking next to us on one side, and Uncle earnie on the other. If you haven't cooked this one you might want to put this one on your list.

Thanks again,
Craig
