Well I picked up my new FEC100 on Friday. fired it up for the first time on Saturday, let it run around 324* for about two hours, temp were rock solid on.

Today I am starting with a log if jimmie dean to season it, and then will do the first cook, a chicken (that is what I have)

"Normally" where are the hot spots on the FECs? Are the top shelfs hotter than than bottom?

I plan to put my single, lonely chicken on the middle shelf?

Thanks, I am very happy. Cooks on Traegers for many years, and while I still love my traegers and they are great for certain things, my cooking needs demanded something with more capacity, better temp control and more fuel effecient.

Do a "find" on mapping and you'll find it.

But here it is:

FYI, this was a Traeger controller model. I haven't done the test on an IQ4.

The IQ4 will have smaller spots because the fan isn't running all the time like it does in the Traeger controller models.

And when it is hot, I just put the heavier/thicker cuts towards that corner and use it to my advantage.
