No Messages

This is the first time I have seen "no messages" when looking at the forum here. No one has posted anything in over two weeks. Are we done? Since Smokin Okie gave up the moderation of the forum and no one else stepped up, this is a sad place to be. A few of us try to keep up, but all the old regulars seem to be busy elsewhere or just not interested. This is not my first time bemoaning the abandonment of this forum, but maybe the last. Does anyone care? Does Cookshack care? Jeez, this used to be such a dynamic and fun-filled place to learn about barbeque. Sigh...

Jay1924 This change in the forum has happened to other boards I have participate in as well. Seems the switch in social media has been part of the reason. Perhaps the recent Facebook privacy issues might drive some folks back to older style boards that offer less of a security risk.

I still check once a week. I do use the search feature a lot. But you're right. I miss reading what every one else is doing. Got so many ideas and motivation to try new things reading everyone's post with pictures and how too tips.

Yes social media is killing old tech boards like this. too bad as i learned so much from this forum. still use search function for reference questions.

I don't know how to post picture now that Photobucket blew up. The photos were fun. If your desperate to relive the old times, search bigwheel from Foat Wurth. I hope he is well. It would be great to have an active moderator but those would be big shoes to fill. I appreciate CookShack still supporting the forum. I know it's not cheap.

I switched to imgur. Actually easier to post pics, took a little while to figure it out though. Maybe now that it's starting to warm up there'll be an increase in posts. I still check in but confess I spend more time on another busier board.

Big Wheel was a riot.

Jay I agree. I still check in every 2-3 days though. I would think cookshack would use the forum more for generating buzz and contests. Since everyone on here is such an ardent supporter and promoter of their smokers. I have told the marketing person this. Seems odd that they don't take advantage of the forum since they are hosting it and it is filled with their perfect customers.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I wasn't trying to "spur" anyone (ouch!) but just wanting to see who here is really in favor of this forum like I am. There are still a few "old timers," maybe not so old, but here whenever a post stirs them sufficiently. I just would like it to be the dynamic, picture-sharing, problem-solving forum it was when I joined, only about 5 years ago. Smokin, where are you? (You used to keep us informed. Hope you are well.)
