It was a year ago that my AQ was delivered, right around July 2 or 3, and I made a brisket on July 4 last year.
This year we decided on spares for the 4th. We also had burgers, dogs, and sausage "just in case" and if not for dinner then of course for snacking during the fireworks!
Smoked 7 racks for 17 people (8 adults, 9 teens) using the 3-1-1 method and I'm both happy and sad to report that there was not a single rib left. Not only that, no burgers, dogs, or sausage made it to the fridge, either!
The best part of the night was hearing from a few of the adults who had recently made and/or had ribs and they all said none of them even came close to mine.
My 14 yr old helped me prep them, he seemed to enjoy it and said they smelled great and that was before we turned on the smoker!! Love that kid!
