PG500 pellet consumption

I have received some great information via the "Which model to buy" forum, but I thought there might be readers here that don't tune in to that forum. And, I apologize if my question has been asked, and I didn't find the relevant thread.

I've been told that on long smokes, pellet consumption might be a negative with the 500. If 1.2 - 2 pounds of pellets are used per hour when cooking at 400* (specifications from CS), how many pounds of pellets might be used for a 20 hr. smoke at 225*? I can do a butt in my 009 for pennies, but 20# of pellets for a butt would cost $12.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide on pellet consumption on long, low temperature smokes.

Don't think you would take 20hrs to cook a PB on the PG500 @ 240-50*. I cook at 275-300* and use about 1.5#s per hour.

I'd take a guess at about 1# per hour at 225*.
