Seasoning the SM025

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and really enjoy smoking. I've just setup and started seasoning my 025 for the first time and noticed he temperature dropped from 275 to 230, is that normal or something I should be worried about? Thanks for any help you can provide. The current temperature here in PA is 66 degrees.

Perfectly normal.. My 055 when I first got it would cycle from 260 down to 190 when set to 225. Averages out to 225. Yours may settle down a bit when it gets seasoned. Don't overthink it. It's working correctly.

Thank you, I'll try not to over think it. I did notice however on my second smoke it took well over an hour and a half to get to my temperature of 250. It continuously kept heating, I presume since the red dot was showing. I don't think it should take that long to reach temperature?

I wouldn't think so but it would depend on what kind of load you put in it. Your 025 is supposed to run flat out for the first 20 minutes to get the smoke going. Something to remember if you lose power sometime.

I can't compare because my 055 isn't electronic.
