Smoker temp heats up

I notice when I open my smoker the heat jumps way past where I have it set then comes down over time. I have a smokette. Any thoughts would be helpful thanks

Is it possible you had some meat laying on or pressing against the oven probe before you opened door?

Opening the door makes the cooker think it is time to crank up to makeup for the lost heat.

Your house oven may do the same thing.
