Just had 6 bottles of Cattlemen's "Master Reserve" Carolina Tangy Gold sauce delivered (Carolina type mustard sauce) along with some wood and the bear claws. I put the mustard sauce on left over chicken thighs from yesterday's smoke, and it was very good.

Think I'll include this as another side sauce for the Carolina "sammiches" (pork butt, cole slaw and Tangy Gold sauce) at the day after my son's wedding barbecue. The 4 side sauces for the pulled pork would be Smokin's, KC style, Memphis style, and Tangy Gold. Three weeks from now, and I already know what 2 sandwiches I'll be eating. One with Smokin's finishing sauce, and one Carolina "sammich". Cool With all the checks I'll be writing between now and ending by the barbecue, those sandwiches should taste real special. Smiler

Funny, the Bessingers had that mustard sauce down in the little area around Columbia SC and serve it about half and half with smoked ,chopped ham and became famous.
Maurice was in every grocery chain in a couple states, until he wouldn't let the Civil War die.

The protestors and finally the courts about bankrupted him.

Now it is everywhere.I even saw it by TX' Bullseye brand and TX doesn't even admit to having pork.
The newest Republican candidate says they just have feral pigs and they try to eradicate them. Big Grin

Cattleman's has long been the biigest selling sauce to vendors and Sam's carries it in the cases of gallons out west.

Vendors used to mix the Sam's mustard into the traditional Cattleman's to make Mustard BBQ Sauce.

Sure is a lot cheaper than the little bottles.
Now mixing the mustard and barbecue sauce is right smart.

I picked up six 18 oz bottles of the Tangy Gold for $10.58 at Amazon. On sale and mighty cheap at $1.76 per bottle. Couldn't believe my eyes. I had to double check.

Threw in 2 sets of bear claws, a bag of pecan wood, and a bag of apple wood. Whole order qualified with free shipping. No tax.

I really like it, but the Mrs. loves it. Then again, she puts mustard on everything.

I don't know why ya'll gotta go out and buy sauce when you can make it. I figure if I'm going to take the time to smoke a butt, I'm going to make the sauce that goes with it. Here is a simple mustard sauce I found and improved:

¾ cup prepared yellow mustard
½ cup honey
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon favorite hot sauce ( I like Yucatan Sunshine)

Combine all ingredients at least 12 hours ahead of time, 24 is good too.
