got my smoker on tuesday. since thne and after seasoning, i done a pork butt 10.5 lbs that turned out delicious. 20 lbs of smoked chicken that was the wettest chicken i ever ate, wet not moist. which was awesome. and a beef roast my cheap mom brought over that turned out more like jerky. think it was the roast. will not be discourage on the chuckies though. love my new toy

Congrats! Both on your decision and your success.

Something the Forum hasn't yet beat to death is the subject of tying the meat to make a more compact package. I do it on everything that I put in there...well, maybe not chicken...but certainly a beef roast.

I find it helps a lot on chuckies especially. It tends to keep the 'bits and ends' from separating out, and getting overcooked.
