I'd be appreciative of any local knowledge in terms of retirement within an hour of Charlotte. Would consider a bit more flexible range towards the Appalachians.
40 years in the restaurant biz has about worn me out.
I have a place in Tryon, NC 90 minutes from Charlotte, 45 minutes from Asheville on the Eastern side of the Blue Ridge. It's isothermal & gets a couple inches of snow/year. There's mountain, horse farm and lake sites. PM if you want more info. Joe M
The great thing about Tryon is it is a favorite large comp for many top teams. They have been very kind to us over the years. Of course, you do need to rent one of the nice homes near the site for the week,if you need a place to stay.
Wilkesboro area just south of Boone or even over to West Jefferson, east of Boone. Beautiful mountain areas or just in the foothills of the Blue Ridge.

Then "California's the place you ought to be". Specifically - Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, California. Originally the story was based on Schuyler, VA near Charlottesville/Blue Ridge Mountains.
