1st Brisket smoking as we type.Put in at 10am. at 1:30temp was 156* Checked back at 3pm and it went down to 150*.Has this ever happened to anyone before?

When you have the chance to read Smokin's Brisket 101 and the archives,you'll see that it is pretty common during the plateau.
It will work its way through in a few hours and start to rise again.

Tom is correct. It's going thru the plateau. Once the temp reaches about 175˚ it will rise faster.

Its 730pm and the temp is170*and I just pulled it out to add 6oz of beef broth and foiled.bark is black but so what this is my first.and im adding broth just to follow a recipe I found here.Ill take out at 190*let it sit for a while slice and tell ya how it went. Well I pulled it out at 197 oops.That is ok let it sit for 30min sliced and turned juice into gravy.Wow not bad!Im hooked!Cant wait to do another.
