And by that I don't me a low temp inside, I mean it's cold outside! At 10* the FEC control panel moves pretty darned slow, but it fired right up. Smoked meatloaf time!
Biggest problem I've had is not with the active/cooking part of the inside of the smoker but the panel.
With the cold it can get where the display isn't visible or doesn't change. I've found if I hang a light bulb/electric trouble light it works. I've also used a blow dryer to heat it up enough to set it and forget it.
Yep, control panel of the FEC is more temperamental than the panel on the electrics. Had to break out the hair dryer tonight. But rain, freezing rain and snow probably didn't help matters.
Ran into that COLD night air cooking problem with my new FEC 750. Solution for me was to fire up my Gas Heater and warm the control panel area. Being careful not to get the button area too hot. The meat came out Great and you couldn't tell that Gas was used to cook it. Cold weather never has been much problem on my 100's. They live inside and go outside to cook.
