This is the place to sign up for the Sauce and Rub exchange. The exchange will work like this. You will submit your name here to this forum. I will add you to this list at the bottom of this post. You will then send me your name and mailing address to my private message box. I will reply to you that I have recieved it. Then when the sign up date closes, I will begin assigning each of the participants a recipient. I will then private message you your recipients name and address. You will have 10 days to put together a package containing not less then $25 in sauces and rubs. These sauces and rubs should be something you created or with some research a retail item that you think your recipient has not had the opportunity to try. It could be a local joints sauce or rub that only is sold in thier establishment. It could be a sauce or rub that you pick up out on the circuit. Have fun with it, get creative and keep in mind that the $25 is a minimum. But nobody should expect more then the $25. I suspect a lot of people will be discussing thier box here in the forum. Maybe you could add a personal touch item to really kick up the experience. A couple of your favorite beer coasters, a bbq sticker, etc etc. Not expected, but could be an added bonus item. Please remember this is supposed to remain annonymous and then once shipments are made you are free to discuss the boxes, sender, likes and dislikes. Just keep it light and honest. Some participants might actually send you a secret recipe they have been working on or one they use at home. They might actually like to hear some feedback. But, let me remind you. It is not a requirement in this exchange to send a homemade item.

Listed below are the important dates and some information.

$25 minimum
2/8 deadline to submit your name and address
2/10 assignments to be Private Messaged
2/10-2/20 shipping

Here is the list of participants. Check back here to see your name on the list. Also I will place a Smiler next to your name once you send me your address.
Feel free to ask questions through Private message or post them here to the forum. Please only reply to this thread that you want to participate or if you have questions. We will create a new thread for the time when people wish to discuss the boxes. Thanks everyone! Have fun!

It's all fun, and you never know. I agree Smokin would be some pressure. Reality is I could love something you don't like. So let's keep is light, have some fun, and broaden our experience with something we haven't tried hopefully.

I'm going with a couple flavors of my local favorite sauce and some rub I'v made.

If you get Smokin, send him a $25 gift certificate to Cabela's. Big Grin Eeker Big Grin
Really guys!,

I hope Padre will give us each a regional experience. While I'm sure dls has experience a lot of eats from all over, each of us do have a local favorite or some kind of experience we are willing to share with another brother.

Smokin' will be one of the easygoing, heck look at all the patients he has shown the cookshack forum! Ya'll know what I mean?

I'm sayin' more folks outta experience regional expertise...don't be shy Shelly!

Ok, I'm in. My only fear is I would get someone like Smokin. I am to new to the game to have any homemade rubs or sauces I would deem worthy and I can't imagine any store bought that the veterans haven't seen or tried. I'm gonna have to go with some of my local made favorites.

Naw, getting a box for Smokin would be a great opportunity. Just think, if you give him something that he likes, then you know you have a great product, that others will enjoy as well. Just man up and wow him.

Well maybe we should all just send Smokin a sample of what we are all sending so he can sample some of everything??

Well, let's just do the exchange, figure if we do it a couple of times we'll all get a chance to taste it. Besides, it's not like I don't have a lot on my plate, but samples from 20 or so people... you WANT me to be fat, don't you.

Not that I have expert taste buds. That's my wife. Send me food and I'll tell you what I think.
Ok here I go...I have been hesitant to do this because I am so so new to this...We here in NJ are very limited to what kinds of local products are available to us. I have seen a few around, so I will have to get creative. Spoke to my local grocery store manager yesterday and he said its all about being able to afford the shelf space for smaller mom and pop bottles. Well, with smokins guidelines I should do fine.

So, Smokin, I am in!!!!!!

Bump for a Monday morning. Have a great week everyone!

Come on guys this will be fun. Regardless of your cooking ability (which mine is way down there) you know when rubs or sauces taste good. This will give those on the left coast an opportunity to taste things from the right coast, and then compare to the best stuff from the South. let's have a good Monday bump.
This is a thing that everyone can do! Even if you your favorite rub or sauce is a "commercial" product, we like to "doctor" it up to suit our tastes. Right? Fix one and send it off, just let everone know how you fixed it.
Remember, there is no right or wrong way, the only way is your way, if you like it.
Well Pags, since you have been such a big help, along with others, since I have been on this forum, such a short time.

"Sounds like Ms. Pag's cleaned out the fridge"

I am guessing that everything you cook/smoke comes out so delicious, and gets gobbled up so fast, that there isn't anything left in the fridge for Mrs. Pags to clean out, Big Grin I think we are all safe, LOL
