You've probably heard that Vermont was hammered by Irene last weekend. Not so much by winds but horrendous flooding. Gentle rivers and trickling brooks turned into ravaging avalanches of water...roads and bridges torn apart across the state. My restaurant has been closed since Sunday...no water or power. We hope to have water back in Woodstock tomorrow and power by Friday, God willing.

I had to rent a refrigerated truck and freezer to save the food, albeit a lot was tossed into the dumpster. You'll be glad to know I saved the beautiful 15 lb+ packers I've received 2 weeks ago along with 120 lbs of S.L. Spares. The good news is the restaurant and home sustained no physical damage.

This kind of weather event happens once in a hundred years. I can't imagine living in hurricane alley down south, or tornado alley in the mid-west. Everyone in VT who wasn't affected by the storm is helping those who were.

Looking forward to getting back to some serious smoking and forum comments again, shortly.

My best to those who may not have been so lucky during this storm.

If nothing else I'll get a generator to run the walk-in refer & freezer.

We re-opened Saturday to a packed house Smiler

Woodstock is slowly getting back to normal. The Woodstock Inn (150 rooms and major employer) will be down at least until Oct 1st. Many VT roads and bridges were destroyed. The aerial footage I've seen is not to be believed. Rt 4, our primary east-west highway was very hard hit between Woodstock & Rutland. Hundreds of dump trucks (each day) are hauling fill & stone in from New Hampshire. It will take years to get everything restored but we'll get'r done.
