I just picked up what I think is the black Cookshack Smokette (just says cookshack and looks like the smokette models online) from craigslist after my current Smoke Hollow door rusted off. The smokette must be an older model with the temperature dial versus the digital? Anyway, it has the 4 feet and then two wheels on the back so when you tilt it, you can roll it. Issue is one of the wheels is loose and won't tighten up all the way when you twist it. It did tighten a little. Looks like you can take the back panel off by removing 8 or so screws. Is this advisable? Would there be a nut in there or do I just live with it?
I may just build a cart and go that route. Tossed a couple pieces of wood in there last night to make sure it worked and it smoked like a champ. May need to try it out this weekend with some ribs. Excited to try this fella out.

If you don't use a cart, I'd call Cookshack. They'll tell you the best fix. If you use a cart, you won't need the wheels. However, if your design requires bolting the smoker to the cabinet, you might still have an issue with that wheel hole, which would receive a bolt (I believe I used a 5/8" x 1.5" bolt through a 7/8" wood top).

That said, a cart or something to elevate the Smokette is the way to go. Easier to check, place and remove product.
Yep,

They will last a life time or two! Why worry about the feet right now?

Put some ribs in that bad boy, 2-3 ozs of wood chunks, put on high, and let er rip.Check with a tooth pick for doneness on the ribs.

Heck it might be wore out(LOL) and no need to worry about the feet.

You bought yourself a classic that has been around for a half a century. Congrats!!!

Who does he go to? It was bought on Craigslist (no warranty there). It's a used Cookshack, it certainly sounds you think this is a CS issue.

He didn't pay CS for all the wheels to work. And I'm sure if it was sold "used" it was sold as is.

However....

he came to the right place for help. I agree with Pags, call CS. I'm constantly surprised at how they help people with out-of-warranty issues by doing what they can to help.
