I have been smoking for years and have used everything from the early charcoal water pan units to a large side box unit from Smokey Joe's with the vertical and horizontal chambers.

As I got older and wiser I moved to one of the gas units from Sam's Club. It is a SS unit, I believe from Smokey Mountain. Any way my Q really got better and much more consistant.

BUT!! Then a friend of mine got a Southern Pride to put in his convenience store and I have been on a quest ever since. (2 or 3 years)

His unit is close in size to the CS 250. I knew that I would never get the wife to go along with that much smoker. So, I have been spending a lot of time on e-bay trying to get the wife to agree at least on a used smoker.

From the beginning of this quest I wanted larger racks than 14X14 that all the residential unit have.

I was on e-bay bidding on a SP SC-200 smoker when i found a one year old CS sm-250. I thought with my daughters wedding coming up in October what the heck if I started getting close with my bidding at the right price my wife couldn't say no to my daughter.

Well neither of these units reached the reserve price. Which got me looking on internet again. and guess what I found. Big Grin The new AmeriQue!

I never hesitated I got the list of dealers within 200 miles and started calling. This was the friday before Memorial day weekend and none of the 6 or 7 dealers had the AmeriQue in stock. Mad So I just logged on the CS and ordered one direct and hey, I got the Fathers Day special to boot.

Only problem in waiting so long to take the plunge is waiting for my AmeriQue to arrive. Roll Eyes

Karen Lunsford e-mailed me that it will be 2 or 3 weeks before my AmeriQue ships with 3 to 4 days for delivery.

I haven't been this excited since I was a child on the night before christmas. Its only been a week now and I am going crazy. Making plans to Q every I can get my hands on.

How about it AmeriQue owners how great is it??

Hope the wife understands when it arrives! Oh Well, sometimes its just better to ask forgiveness than permission.

Hi Toms,

The Amerique is great.
It's computer controls and probe make it excellent. They are very consistent.
I had my smokette for three years before I got my Amerique.
Congratulations on your new Amerique and your daughters wedding.

Thank you,
bembring

I know the feeling well, Toms.. It felt like forever after i ordered mine, mainly becuase i gave up my 55 before the AQ arrived, but it was well worth the wait. No more worries about watching the temps, it handles everything for me.

The other nice thing as you mentioned is the larger racks, i can fit full slabs on there and it cuts down on the prep work. My 55 could take 5 full racks, cut in half, 2 per shelf, this baby, although lacking the 5th shelf, can take 8 full racks, whole, no need to cut in half..

The 4 wheels also make it nice to move around the patio, the wheels are huge and it rolls really nice..

The display is great, lights up, large easy to read numbers and beats turning on the lights, flashlight @ night to read the polder.. The other thing i like about the display is that i don't need to worry about blowing a breaker (only happened once on my 55, but i put some butts in, went to work and wheni came home they were pretty much the way i left them in the morning Frowner ).

This is my 3rd CS unit and i couldn't be happier. i've only had the AQ a few weeks, and so far i've cooked:

8 Butts
10 racks of ribs
and my second brisket is in right now for tonight's dinner, a 5lb'r from costco...
Is it Christmas Yet!

Thanks for the replies everybody.

DaveN, I am excited for you. I'll be thinking about you on friday and all weekend. Lot's of Luck. Let us know how it goes.

Don from NJ, sounds like everything I been waiting for. Keep on smoken.

How many briskets can you cook at one time in the AmeriQue? I need do do maybe 4 or 5 for the wedding. Would I put my thermometers in the top and bottom briskets? Can I use the bottom rack? If I can would I put the bottom brisket fat side down?
