I was in Altus and Lawton this weekend and found Grape Ranch, Beat Texas Oct 8, 2005 commemorative bottles of red, white or blush at the liquor stores. For those of you who are Fans or give gifts to fans it is a good present for under 20 dollars. The Grape Ranch bunch of grapes has horns on it and is upside down as is the word Texas. My husband had to explain that to me.

Just so we stay on the topic of barbecue, here is an article from the August 2005 Backyard Barbecue News:

Cookshack Forum Reaches 5,000 Members

The Cookshack forum reached 5,000 members on July 13, 2005 with rgecaprock's registration. She says she heard about us on the finevinewines.com forum "where they rave about the Cookshack and share pictures and recipes."

The Texan has been making wine for about six months and bottled 30 bottles of her own gewrztraminer in mid-July. We asked her for recommendations for wine to accompany barbecue and here's what we learned:

"With the smoky rich tastes of red meats like tenderloin and rib eyes the fruit forward reds are the best ... red zinfandels, shiraz, cabernets ... slightly chilled. With poultry try a dry white like viognier or vouvray. If you are using a spicy rub or sauce then gewrztraminer is the best one I have found."

If you have a favorite wine or wines to drink with your Q, email d_johnson@cookshack.com and we will publish more about wines in a future issue of the BBN.
I thought we wer on the subject of bbq. Some of us,right Old coacher? know that certain wines go well with bbq and we were discussing the festival music as that type of music also goes well with bbq. iT MIGHT EVEN GO WELL WITH "crow".
I would put a smile on here except I can't figger out the graemlins. Old Coacher andI didn't realize that so many people can talk intelligently about wines and bbq together HAHA
