I did pick up a bag of Traeger from my neighborhood hardware store. I had a 5 dollar coupon that I used.
So it looks like I will have 3 brands of pellets to try out : )
Thanks guys for informing me about the "good and the bad and the ugly".
That kinda sounds like a movie I saw once. : )
Scott312,
Pay attention to the performance of the different pellets and judge for yourself. I can't speak yet as to how the different brands perform in a PG500 as mine won't arrive until this Thursday, but I did notice a difference in my FEC100.
You just bought the best smoker/grille made (i.e. Cookshack), so consider that when buying pellets. When I first started my pellet smoking adventures, I too was looking for the "best price" on pellets as I was going thru them pretty fast (may have been caused by the amount I was using the smoker
), but I have since learned a better performing pellet makes life just a little better.
That "pellet dump" feature of the PG500 will help you judge the difference between brands without cross-mixing them. Just keep the pellets dry and enjoy your new toy!!
