I read elsewhere on the forum that people were finding PB's for a dollar something per pound. I had never bought one before this weekend and picked up a bone in Boston butt, 8.6 pounds, and it was $3 something per pound, total cost after tax about 27 bucks. This was from a highly reputable butcher shop (not a grocery store). What do you folks feel is a reasonable price per pound? Thanks.

MaxQ - The large majority of States that impose a State sales tax exempt food for consumption at home. Five States, Kansas being one, apply the full State sales tax rate to such purchases. As I recall, a similar number of States apply a sales tax, but at a reduced rate.

I just purchased a case of butts at Sams in Wichita for $1.38lb. That is their case price. I don't remember what the non case price was, but usually about $1.58lb. They are pretty good butts. I usually get about a 60% return after cooking. If you have a membership go there. You can get choice brisket packers for $2.10 lb case price also.
