Smoked/Baked Potatoes

I do it all of the time and they are great! I use large potatoes and put a metal skewer through them to aid cooking the center. I smoke them at 275 along with ribs for about 3 hours. They are not over smoked at this temp.

Joe, are you doing a couple of potatoes or the whole cooker full?

Ok, what type of potatoes? High starch, low starch, new,aged?

10 to 12 extra large (1 rack) Idaho baking potatoes from SAMs. I recommend you do a test run. I don't foil them but the metal skewer is important as it helps cook the center. They stay hot for hours but if you seal them up (cooler) the skins get soggy.

I do baked potatoes on my grill all the time. Nice crisp skin (the best part) and nice creamy inside. These are not smoked just grilled. I stab the potatoes all over with a large fork. Oil and salt them in a plastic bag for and hour or more if you have time. Grill and turn as needed. Temp them to 210 degress interior

Ranger. For a change of pace and a taste treat. Do the same and toss in some garlic granules/powder.
