I have jumped on their sales a couple of times. Product has always appeared unused. Makes great gifts for the holidays as well.
Well. I didn't need one until recently.
I never leave mine out, and it always rests in the drawer of the cabinet where my Elite sets under our patio cover. So I forgot it overnight on the outdoor kitchen a couple weeks ago, and wouldn't you know it, it was the first time in years its rained in July in Northern California.
It wasn't the splash proof model, and it no longer works. Yep, I ran out for new batteries. My brainfart...new one on order. Splash proof model.

FYI They just came out with a new product "the Dot" as with the Thermopen it is simple but amazingly accurate Just used it on an inside cook this week ...perfect and as all their products really well built It does not have a remote option (downside) but the quality of the sensor is much better than any Maverick product I've used It's about $90.00 So far well worth it
