While the Que is in the cookshack smoker working it's wonderful magic, anybody has any easy crockpot or pressure cooker type recipes that just say BBQ for side dishes?

I am looking for set it and forget it type recipes... I am getting older and lazier...

How BBQ beans? Corn on the cob? Any easy steaming Vegie recipes? What about desserts like a bread pudding? Or something chocolatey for the Mrs.

I don't want to spend time in kitchen missing the game and socializing and beer.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hmmm no one bitin'

I see smokinoakie has baked or smoked bean recipe on one of the other topics... That may do, but when I have a crowd my little smokette is plumb full

Back in the day I did a whole Charles Dickens Christmas dinner in my WSM bullet... Oysters, turkey, Christmas pudding. Cant do same in Smokette, temps not high enough

Sooo... If any suggestions on some easy side dishes for crowd of people I am all ears
Not for you old guys coming back... okie with no "a" please... you HAVE been away.

I think the challenge of the post is trying to do BBQ sides elsewhere.

beans in the smoker are awesome. If I was space restricted, I'd do them in advance and reheat.

Check out the recipe section, a # of recipes have been added, see if those might fit the bill.

Then maybe some people will pop in with ideas.

ok enough salt in wounds suffered on both sides. I like my slow cooker creamed corn which makes a big batch but there is never left overs.
4-16oz frozen corn, 2-8oz cream cheese cubed, 1 cup butter cut into pieces, 1/2 cup sugar, 6 slices american cheese, 1/2 milk.
combine all in slow cooker set on low and stir every 30 minutes or so and in 3 hours its done.
and old guys like it as well as kids.

That fumble cost us (Sooners) a national championship! FYI - Billy now has a chain of BBQ restaurants. www.billysimsbbq.com. I almost put his sauce in the exchange.

GO BIG RED!!! Smokin it sure gives me great pleasure to know you have at least one Husker in your house!!
I clean the ears of corn and soak the husks in water. I butter and season the corn like Idaho Mike does then put them back in the soaked husks. I wrap foil around the center to hold the husk closed (you can do this hours in advance). I throw on the grill @ medium for 20 - 30 minutes. You can serve as is (nice presentation) or remove from husk before plating.
