Hope its ok to post this link. If not sorry and take it away. I'm sure some of you have seen this before but if not its a pretty good read for anyone home making rubs.

Since the topic of the thread is Rub Sauce exchange, not sure a rub discussion is best here. Take it to ta new thread would be my suggestion. I approach it like this. A month or two from now, when people do a search by only reading topics, they'll miss this buried in the depths of this thread.

Just sayin'

Couldn't take it like a kid on Christmas morning! All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! What an awesome box full of goodies!! 4 rubs that certainly pass the taste test, 3 sauces, a bag of local chips and 2 really cool t-shirts. Like I said, good things come to those who wait and I am certain I got the best box!! I will try to post pics tonite with help from the better half. Thanks soooo much Cook One!!
Well, I just got my last box. It is 3:00pm here, but you guys say that doesn't qualify, I understand!

Yea me, I now have a complete set of stuff from Butcher's BBQ! Thanks David Q. I got the Honey Rub (my favorite), Original BBQ Sauce (never had), Pork and Brisket Injection AND and injection needle! Thanks so much David I was really hoping the injection would be in the box, especially after you said trust your buther! Smiler

You'll laugh, but we don't have a lot of choices in the stores here in OK. many of them are just the commercial stuff. One places stocks BBQ stuff but most of it is still the commercial stuff (not the BBQ rubs/sauces that a lot of competitor's use)

I love the shopping, just wish I had a local place to shop. For me it's all on-line.

Funny, thems fighting words around here. Next time I get a Case of 18lb grass feed perfect flat briskets I'll send a photo... oh wait, I've got two in the fridge, let me go take a photo Razzer

Don't make me go all Grapes of Wrath on your Californian's. Maybe I need to request YOU in the next exchange. Teach you a think about real BBQ (as he says throwing the gauntlet down)

Well, I flew into OKC earlier today and can state that I haven't seen any Coops. However, when coming in I did notice an abundance of silos. Also, as we were descending to land at Wiley Post airport I was looking out the window to see if I could find a house with a really, really big deck. No luck. I guess Smokin' doesn't live under the flight path we were on.
Geography? Aw come on. I've been to 105 countries but don't tell me you don't know where Oklahoma is (lie at this point)... Tell your wife you are banned on her account.

You guys from the Left Coast (he says shaking his head)... LOL

Well at least we know how to build smokers and decks in Oklahoma Wink

And guess what, we have TREES in Oklahoma too. I know it's funny we actually have a Natural Forrest here.

Okay, enough threadjacking. I'll cut you a LITTLE slack since you organized this great rub/sauce exchange.

75 degrees here today, think I will ride home in shorts, and then jump in the pool. Afterwards, I will drink a nice cold beer, followed by a robust cigar and perhaps maybe I will go in the house around 6:30 or so when it starts to get a little chilly. You know once it drops below 60...ahh. How is the weather where you live?

And to stay on topic...the box on my porch weighs 17.9 pounds. Drool away.

Gosh. Padrefan. I've got the same problem you do. High only 70 today. I smoke BBQ and golf all winter...no snow, coldest highs in the 50's. We've had 2 thunderstorms in the past 10 years. No tornados. When I wanted good barbecue I joined this forum. And Sacramento is earth quake free. And if Smokin really wants to show us how to barbecue, he has an open invitation to my house...at all times.

Well. Gotta go. Heading out to the patio to drink a Stella and smoke a Ditka (courtesy of my brother).

Well. Almost as good as you. San Diego has the best all around weather in the country. Neat place too.

You are more than welcome, just landed back in Alabama from CA. I was hoping the whole way that you received the box. Again sorry you were last, but I hope you enjoy the items. Hope the shirts fit.
Came home to discover two packages waiting for me. I opened the small one first. I read the letter that was enclosed and learned that most almonds come from California. But there is a special almond that comes from Spain called a Marcona. Enclosed was a generous bag containing smoked Marcona almonds. I had to try them. My first recognizable taste was rosemary. Then the texture. Somewhere between a Macadamia nut and an almond, but closer to a Macadamia. Just outstanding! I couldn't stop eating them and even shared with my son as we opened the second box.

The first thing I notice is there is another familiar style box inside the box. A box I have seen many times containing adult crafted beverages. I also recognize the Goose Island logo. There was also another smaller box. Talking about being Nuke proof. This box was packed so well it could survive a nuclear meltdown in Iran.

After taking all of the bottles out and trying to contain my excitement, my son and I finger tested the Carolina Mustard sauce. When he saw the color, he said I hope that's mustard sauce. He is 14 and already has good taste. We both loved it. As for the other items here is the list.

Q BBQ Carolina Mustard Sauce
Q BBQ Texas Spicy Sauce
Q BBQ Q-Rub
Carribean Cooking Magic Hot Pepper Sauce
Cd from Jerry Lee Lewis

I can't wait to try everything. My son said, "dad you got to smoke those eggs again, that carolina sauce would be awesome on them" I have to agree. Then I told him to leave my sauces alone!

The beers are in the picture. Please forgive my long winded post but you have to understand that my first crazy passion and vice is beer. I have sampled over 1,000 different beers, and have documented them all. My sender sent me some of the best breweries in the country. 3 Floyds, Bells, and Two brothers. Those are all breweries I have tried and loved. The beers themselves are some of the best from those breweries. I am drinking the Robert the Bruce from Three Floyd's. I chose that one because it doesn't need to be ice cold, and is so tasty. I put it in an ice bath for 10 minutes to get it cool. A couple of the breweries I don't recognize, and that makes this even more exciting. I can't wait to try those.

I am going to thank my sender personally, But this is by far the best box I have seen. And since it's the last box, it wins. If that means anything.

Thanks to David (dls) You hit this one out of the park! I think I owe you a beer or two. And since we share a passion for good beer, you can expect I will be shipping something your way very soon.

Very SWEET tunes, nice to see you also got a personal type of box.

I must say the exchange went better than I could have 1st envisioned, but I think that speaks volume for the type of folks that are CS family members...as they would say,"just a chip off of the old block".

For "The Great One"...THANKS from the bottom of my smoker...LOL!
Nice box Padre! I like red wine as much as you like crafted beer. Funny but my fave red wine is from Napa Valley California made by a company called Caymus. Love the cab reserve! I just rubbed 2 butts with my new rub I got today from Cook One. Gonna rub a rack of ribs as well with the rib rub he sent me and smoke em tomorrow. Will be gone this weekend so couldn't wait to try them.
