SWEET.

Now you understand why it CAN be good to wait... All things good come to those who wait.

Yeah, it was only 72 in Oklahoma Yesterday, but when it gets cold tonight, I'll jump into the Hot Tub. No golf yet for me, I don't play until it's above 60's. Oh, and I Golf better than I BBQ (I have 7 Holes in One to prove it, including a Par 4 HiO).. take THAT California

Too bad you CA people can't make the reunion, we could finish this tauting war over beer and cigars and bbq.

I can see it now, a webcast after an all day BBQ session with adult beverages. We'll of course talk about the forum people who couldn't be there. Not sure that video wouldn't be used for blackmail.

I had a "hole in three". Put the first ball in the water then holed the next shot Red Face

Tough way to get the par.

I'll need strokes Smokin.
Padrefan98 (Jon), You're welcome for everything.

You were a lot of fun putting the package together for, and frankly, easy to select and shop for (maybe I shouldn't say that part).

In a couple of your prior posts with photos I recall that you had a bottle of craft beer in the background. Then, when you proposed the exchange you mentioned that you did something similar on a beer related forum. When I received your name as my recipient I thought "Well, this a no brainer".

I've always felt fortunate about where I live, and procuring the items for the package was so effortless, its almost shameful.

For sauces and rubs, I thought of a few well known places in the Chicago area such as Smoque, Smoke Daddy, etc. Then I thought "That's stupid". One of the best places in the area for "Store Bought" BBQ is Q BBQ in LaGrange, IL (4 blocks from my house).

The Caribbean Cooking Magic sauce is produced by a small local company located very near a 2nd home we have in Sarasota, FL. I get it at a local BBQ store about 1 mile from the house. I didn't need to travel to FL for it this time since I have a stash in my pantry in IL.

All of the beer came from a local store known as Vino e Birra. It opened last Fall and offers a large selection of specialty wines and craft beers (3 blocks from my house).

One of my favorite nuts is the Marcona almond, which I first encountered at a tapas bar in Spain 20+ years ago. For years I would stock up on Marconas whenever I traveled to Spain. Now, my neighborhood Trader Joes carrys them (3 blocks from my house).

I was recently listening to a Jerry Lee Lewis CD I like that my wife got me around a year ago. She said she thought of me when she saw the title "Mean Old Man". I thought "What's BBQ and brew without a little music". Hello Amazon Prime.

You've mentioned cigars several times, but that one left me a little cold since I don't smoke them. I do, however, have a source for "True" Cubans through a friend of mine in Miami whose brother travels (legally) between Miami and Havana several times a month. He usually "exports" a supply for friends and family on each trip. Starting tomorrow I'll be traveling in different parts of FL for several days with the intention of being in Miami next weekend. If you're interested, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks again for putting the exchange together, coordinating it, and pulling it off very successfully. I think we've all had a lot of fun and have enjoyed it very much.

AndyJ-Yes, that is what he told me. The mustard sauce is outstanding. The Spicy sauce is spicy but a nice sweet balance. I am going to have to weaken the kick a little somehow for the family. They like spicy, but this has some heat. I tasted the rub, and I think I am going to put it on some ribs very soon.

Padrefan98 - I like the spicy sauce just as it is, but need to "tame" it a bit for my wife and daughter. Do what I do and add agave nectar, a little at a time, until you get to the point of approval.

I hate golf. I played baseball, and my coach said I should try golf. I tried golf and my instructor said I should try bowling.

So, does anybody bowl? I have a 223 average.

Fishing is always good. No coaches.

I'm with you on golf. People often question why I have a home in FL on a TPC course, and never play the game. My response is always that I played the game 3 times in my life, and as far as I'm concerned, that was 4 times too many. I just don't have the patience.

The most interesting thing about the course is some of the residents, especially one that lives about 50 yards behind my house. See attachment below.

No bowling either. You have what I think is a pretty good average. Personally, I could never figure out the attraction of the sport.

I did do a lot of fairly successful amateur sports car racing for about 20 years, but as one ages the reaction times and cojones start diminishing in equal proportion. I still like the cars, just not on a track in competition.

Ha, Ha, funny.

Sorry don't play MG, only real golf from the back tee's, 6 H/C

Six? Holy moley! And from the back tees? You must be a natural to be as busy as you are and be that good a golfer.

The only way I could get a ball on the fairway from the back tees would be to chip it into a passing golf cart and hope it falls out in the short grass
I play golf for fun, I don't take it seriously and actually didn't pick it up until late in life (thought it was a stupid game as Bill Cosby would say). Really. I love to play, but it's about fun!!! Drink some beer (ask me some time about winning the "who could drink the most beer on the golf course contest")

Since I'm over 55, I may not move up to the Grey T's see if I can make some money.

I've never looked at this way. Maybe I'll reconsider my long held negative opinion if the game.
Made meatloaf today with homemade the rub and the Four Men & a Pig BBQ sauce given to me by Gailmo. Dee-licious!

I tend to get stuck in a rut and having new things to try will broaden my "Q" horizon.

Thanks Padre for coming up with the swap idea and thank you again Gailmo for the great products you shared with me.

I gotta make some of those almonds for Mrs. SmokinMAINEiac...she's suffering from withdrawal.

Fishing is a great sport Padre especially in Canada! Smoked walleye is unbelievably good!! If you haven't tried it you must! I take a small smoker with and smoke brisket and PB as well while we are there.

I know a little about Walleye and Northern Pike. I spent some time fishing in Minnesota while I was growing up and recently went back for a family rebellion. The walleye are good eating and fun to catch. Never smoked them though, and that's only because I wasn't as serious about smoking as I am now. Sounds good.

Cuban cigars?? I'll volunteer to be dls' recipient next time. What better accompaniment for BBQ? I might even be back in Chicago in May and save him the shipping cost.

Exactly why I chase a white ball around the pool table, that and it's an air conditioned sport.
I just grilled some hamburgers tonight and used the Theta Hickory Sauce sent to me by iSmoke in my sauce/rub exchange package. The sauce is used by one of his local restaurants on hamburgers.

I grilled one side of the burgers, flipped them, then addded the Theta Sauce, closed the grill lid and let the sauce bake somewhat. Delicious. Grandson said, "These hamburgers are awesome."

Thanks again John. Nice addition.
Did a rack of spare ribs using rub from Chicago's Smoque restaurant. Tasty and not overpowering. Complemented the pork and apple wood smoke flavor. Rub came to me in the exchange from Steve Chris10son. I'm doing a rack three days in a row with same rub, but different wood. Today apple, then cherry and pecan. No a la Trigg or any thing fancy. Just want to test wood flavor in a short time so I will remember the difference!
